The SMARCO Project Kicks Off for Greener and More Digital Smart Communities

SMARCO: the new Erasmus+ project for green, digital, and smart communities kicks off!
We are pleased to announce the launch of the SMARCO project – SMARt COmmunities Skills Development in Europe, a European initiative funded by the Erasmus+ programme. The project aims to strengthen skills for the development of more sustainable, digital, and resilient smart communities.
The initiative responds to the growing demand for specialized skills among public administration staff and ICT professionals involved in the transition towards smart and inclusive urban models.
Running for 48 months, SMARCO is coordinated by the European Digital SME Alliance and involves a broad consortium of 22 partners and associated organizations across Europe. The project aims to:
bridge the skills gap between the public and private sectors;
offer flexible training pathways;
develop a new certification scheme to enhance the quality and relevance of training programmes on smart cities and smart communities;
create a resource platform with studies and trend analyses to support the stakeholder community.
SMARCO aims to become a key reference point for professionals working on urban transformation projects, contributing to the smart and sustainable growth of our communities. It brings together a European network of partners and stakeholders around a new Smart Communities Skills Partnership, within the framework of the Pact for Skills, offering practical tools and innovative training opportunities to support the digital and green transition.
